Warm, Rustic Designs
in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains
Log cabins have a distinct look and feel to them.
Because this vacation spot started as a 1950 seasonal camp, there were unique features to preserve before renovating. These elements included the double-sided brick fireplace, the wide plank pine floors, and charming English cottage style windows. Butterscotch painted walls and deep red interior doors set the stage for warm textured fabrics, natural wood tone furniture, and oriental rugs. Large porches, surrounded by nature, extend the living space.
The real drama however came at the time a crane was brought in to lift the house. A complete lower level with walk-out atrium doors and 11-foot ceilings was constructed. While there was a fleeting thought of tearing down the original camp, my vision for it to become something much greater, while preserving its history, thankfully won out.
